Following upon my residency experiences in Yeonmisan Mountain Nature Art Park, Gonju, South Korea and the Broken Forests Poland 2024 residency on the border with the Ukraine, I will be researching the local mythology and ancestral knowledge of wildlife residing in the Serrado forests of central Brazil. 

From Indigenous knowledge keepers there and from Brazilian Artists in residency with me, I will research and illustrate “animal, bird, insect, fish and reptile” connections to Anishinaabe stories and legends taught to me by Elder Basil Johnson. Through ink drawings on found and organic substrates, I am interested in the allegorical nature of wildlife especially in oral histories across continents.
